Our Membership Process

Applications open every fall! The Healthy Hive has a two-step application process.

To become a member of the youth advisory board, you must be an adolescent between the ages of 14–19 and live in a region where FHCCP provides services (see regional map). If that sounds like you, let’s get started!

Step 1

Step 1

Start by completing the application form below. A selection committee will then score the application.

Step 2

Step 2

Applicants who score highly will move on to the second step of our process — a 30-minute virtual interview. After the interview, applicants who score well will be invited to join the Healthy Hive!

What Do Healthy Hive Members Do?

Healthy Hive members are expected to take part in monthly virtual meetings, review curriculum and other program materials, and contribute to ongoing quality improvement efforts.

The Youth Advisory Board, The Healthy Hive, advises FHCCP’s adolescent health programming. This includes things like:

  • Reviewing prevention curriculum and providing feedback
  • Participating in FHCCP’s annual adolescent health needs assessment
  • Discussing FHCCP’s programming and how to make improvements
  • Supporting public health messaging campaigns
  • Being invited to participate in FHCCP’s community coalition meetings

Prevention curriculum and public health messaging aims to raise awareness and support for reproductive health education. Reproductive health education is about building knowledge and skills.  Topics covered in health education often include:

  • anatomy
  • adolescent development
  • healthy relationships
  • communication skills
  • preventing pregnancy
  • preventing sexually transmitted infections

Hive Members will serve a minimum of a one-year term which includes monthly virtual meetings, regular communications (texts and emails) and spending about 1-2 hours reviewing materials, as needed.

Applications will open in September 2025
