Parent Advisory Board

Family Health Council of Central PA’s Parent Advisory Board is a regional advisory board that informs the development and delivery of our health programs for youth.

The Parent Advisory Board is made up of parents and caregivers who, in addition to reviewing and refining educational content for young people, help advocate for medically accurate, science-based pregnancy prevention programs in their communities.

These parents and caregivers support the adolescent health programs of Family Health Council of Central PA (FHCCP) through the review of curricula for age, cultural, and linguistic appropriateness. Similarly, they review any supplemental materials that may be shared with learners and their families.

The Parent Advisory Board reviews program performance measures and provides insight to FHCCP staff that supports our ongoing quality improvement efforts. Finally, they participate in our annual needs assessment process to determine which populations have the greatest need and, through that, help us refine our strategies for reaching populations that are not currently being served.

Over time, the Parent Advisory Board intends to curate and compile resources and easily digestible tips for parents, especially when it comes to preparing our children (and ourselves) for puberty, dating, relationships, and sex.
